| The ramparts of the citadel offer views of Jerusalem in all directions. Close by, to the north-east, east and south-east, are the Old City's four quarters, the Temple Mount, the Mount of Olives, and the holy places of Judaism, Christianity and Islam located in those areas. The New City sprawls to the west, and within it Mishkenot Sha'ananim, the first neighborhood built beyond the old city walls. In the distance are Bethlehem and the Hebron Hills to the south, the Judean Desert and the mountains of Moab to the east, and Tel el-Ful, the site of King Saul's capital, to the north. |
