Ottoman Period Exhibit

The exhibit describes the flourishing period under Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent (16th century), when the walls and gates of the city were restored and quality of life improved.
Ottoman Period Exhibit Jerusalem was ruled by the Ottoman Turks for 400 years, from their conquest of the city in 1517 until the British victory in December 1917.
With the weakening of the Ottoman Empire and the growing influence of the European powers in the 19th century, Jerusalem was drawn into the modern age.
