Early Muslim Period Exhibit

Early Muslim Period Exhibit The exhibit records the peaceful surrender of Jerusalem to the Muslim conquerors (638 CE), and its transformation into the third holiest city in Islam.
For four centuries, from the rule of the Ummayids until the Crusader conquest, the Muslim faith and the Arabic language dominated the life of the city. During this period, two splendid religious buildings were built: the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa mosque.
The exhibit is located in an exceptional hall which contains remains of an old mosque, including its mihrab (the niche that orients Muslim worshippers towards Mecca) and minbar (pulpit).
