Crusader Period Exhibit

Crusader Period Exhibit The exhibit explores the Christian character of Jerusalem after the Crusader conquest (July 15, 1099). The city was declared the capital of the ''Kingdom of Jerusalem''. Mosques were turned into churches, old monasteries were restored and new ones built, and housing was constructed to lodge the large numbers of pilgrims that inundated the city from all over the Christian world. The exhibit records as well the different Christian communities that inhabited the city.
