Byzantine Period Exhibit

Byzantine Period Exhibit The exhibit traces the change in the status of Jerusalem following the visit in 326 CE of Queen Helena, mother of the Roman Emperor Constantine, and the eventual adoption of Christianity as the official imperial religion. The city's new religious centrality made it a magnet for Christian pilgrims from near and far.
