The Tower of David Museum strives to offer everyone the opportunity to better understand the history of Jerusalem and its significance. The Museum is committed to reaching out to impact on groups who may not otherwise be able to visit by making access available to all and by creating programs which answer the needs of underserved communities.
The Museum creates special programs for groups which include schoolchildren with special needs, children and youth at risk, and a unique program for young soldiers in the Israeli Defense Forces. Special courses for young people teach them to be junior guides in the Museum. The Museum also hosts new immigrant groups and populations from the geographic and cultural periphery who are not usually exposed to either the Museum or the legacy of Jerusalem.
One of the goals of the Museum is to be receptive to the interests of diverse communities and we create group-specific programs for varied populations. For example, special programs which respect cultural differences are offered to Ultra-Orthodox Jewish groups and programs are offered to Arab visitors. .
Working together with local authorities, organizations and business groups, the Tower of David Museum hopes to continue to serve and involve the community.

| Children with Special Needs |
| A special learning program developed for children with special needs introduces them to a unique Jerusalem experience. |
 |
The children encounter the ancient walls, passageways and guardrooms of the Museum and learn how the city defended itself and its inhabitants throughout history. Trained Museum guides accompany the children during the visit and relate Jerusalem’s history through stories of people and events.
|
|
The program, offered for small groups, is geared towards children with learning disabilities, as well as those with physical disabilities. There is also a special program for the wheelchair bound which allows them to explore the nooks and crannies of the Citadel.
Dozens of schools and organizations have already participated in the different programs offered.

| Jerusalem Dream Project |
|
For centuries, Ethiopian Jews dreamed to touch the stones and pray at the Western Wall in Jerusalem.
For the thousands of new immigrants to Israel from Ethiopia, this dream of generations came true. The "Jerusalem Dream" Project at the Tower of David Museum brings the Ethiopian community, veterans and new immigrants alike, to an encounter with the history of Jerusalem and the major events that occurred during 3,000 years. Talented Ethiopian students study in a special training course at the Museum that focuses on the history of Jerusalem and the historic affinity of Ethiopian Jews to Jerusalem. They then act as guides for the many Ethiopian groups who come to the Museum to learn about their own heritage. Emphasis is placed on empowerment and development of leadership skills among course participants.
|
|
The training course includes weekly meetings, lectures, tours, meetings with people from the community and workshop training. Thanks to the support of the Jerusalem Foundation, groups of Ethiopian visitors from all over the country are admitted free of charge.

Young Israeli Soldiers
The Tower of David Museum, in conjunction with the Israel Defense Forces, has developed a unique educational program for young Israeli soldiers.
Since 2004, more than 60,000 young men and women have embarked on a tour of the Museum that exposes them to the major events in Jerusalem’s history, presented in a mature and stimulating way. These soldiers learn about the people and events which have shaped history and are challenged to ask questions and explore their own encounters with that legacy.
The project exists thanks to the contributions of individuals and groups who believe in the importance of enriching Israel’s next generation.
